IPRED and the new media-maffia order!

Let me skip ahead a couple of weeks/months/years from now and see how this new law serves its purpose.

The only ones that are going to benefit from this are companies that provide anonymity services. People will buy these services and continue to share content, they will encrypt traffic, use IP-blockers, and encrypt their drives. People will boycott and the music / movie industry will still lose money. I mean I used to spend at least 1000 SEK (Swedish crowns) on buying music/services/going to the cinema per month. You think I’ll be doing that now?

Many internet sites reported that the traffic in Sweden dropped by 30% yesterday when the law was introduced, what they totally missed in their sensational journalism was that the traffic is actually higher than it used to be 4 months ago. And by the media -mobs logic, shouldn’t their revenue gone up by 30%? In their last trial they tried to convince the judges that every movie illegally shared is a loss to them on a 1:1 ratio.

It’s a shame, a damn shame that the Swedish government is caving to the media-mob lobby. I guess I could blame it on the right-winged coalition but I wont steep that low.

People are willing to pay for options, if the companies can’t see that then it’s their loss, not ours. How about I don’t get treated like a criminal everytime I go to the cinema and have to sit and endure a lecture about pirating? I mean I’m the “good guy” here paying for my shit, right? Or how about when I buy/rent a dvd I don’t have to see that disclaimer screen with a 1 minute pause telling me that I suck for downloading?

This whole “debate” if you can call it that is not about my right to download movies or not. It’s about the concept of internet being marginalized by reactionary governments where we will be forced back the golden ages of television. A smaller amount of producer-elites will be feeding “information” to the bigger consumer mass, and then we can live happily ever after in our ignorance.

Doing a referendum on this subject would most likely lead to the law being revoked, but we can’t have that in this sham democracy we live in. IPRED and FRA got through, what’s next?  PKU? ACTA? IPRED2?
